Responsibilities
- Supports a diverse portfolio of affordable residential properties and tax credit assets under rehab.
- Works closely with the Senior Controller on financial reporting, day-to-day and period-end accounting activities, general ledger analysis, cash management, and cash flow analysis.
- Prepares financial items and annual year-end projections, analyzes monthly and year-end budget variances, and produces accurate, high-quality monthly and quarterly reports used across the company for reporting, analysis, and planning.
- Interfaces with independent auditors, internal stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to produce accurate financial statements.
- Collaborates with the Controller and Asset Managers on monthly cash flow forecasting.
- Book journal entries and performs general ledger analysis, as needed.
- Performs monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings and prepares supporting work papers for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Aids in the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax, cash, and GAAP reporting.
- Develops and maintains reporting templates and performs analysis using applications such as Excel or JD Edwards accounting software.
- Assists with special projects, as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline.
- 2+ years of real estate accounting experience, preferably at the residential property level.
- CPA Certification, highly preferred.
- Knowledge of JD Edwards, RealPage, Yardi, or other property management–related software is a plus.
- Federal and local housing agency reporting experience.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Clear communicator with the ability to interact with senior leaders.
- Superior organizational skills.
