Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for monthly and daily general ledger accounting for our international management companies and intercompany accounting. This role will work closely with our existing team of accountants to provide guidance and assistance where needed to complete month-end procedures and reports to the property accounting supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance on processes/procedures to other team members as needed
• Provides complex accounting treatments/analysis
• Troubleshoots and resolves system issues to ensure data integrity
• Affirms compliance of internal controls to ensure documentation reflects current processes
• Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of Month-end accounting close functions to include journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, revenue and expense deferrals and bank reconciliations
• Responsible for general ledger reconciliations
• Prepares income statement and balance sheet analysis, on a monthly, quarterly, year-end and as-needed basis
• Affirms the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements
• Affirms the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including working with our operations team to analyze and explain budget variances
• Responsible for the review of purchase requests for accurate GL coding and comparison against budgeted expenditures
• Responsible for preparation of audit schedules as well as other analyses for the year-end audit
• Affirms the implementation of software or process upgrades and enhancements as needed
• Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of Month-end accounting close functions to include journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, revenue and expense deferrals and bank reconciliations
• Responsible for general ledger reconciliations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree, experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Three or more years of recent accounting experience
• Preferred Qualifications: MBA preferred, CPA preferred
• Five or more years of recent accounting experience
• Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization, Solid, comprehensive understanding of GAAP and internal control compliance, Strong computer skills including accounting systems, Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred, Strong Excel skills, including usage of pivot tables and v-lookups, Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are required
