Senior Accountant
About the role
Laird R&F Products is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant / General Ledger Accountant to support the company's manufacturing operations through accurate financial reporting, cost accounting, and general ledger management.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly general ledger closing activities and support the preparation of financial statements.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
- Maintain standard costs for inventory items and support ongoing cost accounting activities.
- Lead the annual inventory standard cost revaluation process.
- Prepare quarterly obsolete inventory analyses and related accounting entries.
- Analyze and capitalize manufacturing variances as required.
- Conduct financial analyses and provide accurate reporting to support operational and business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial and operational objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including both general ledger and cost accounting responsibilities.
- Hands-on experience in a standard cost manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the creation and use of pivot tables.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and solve accounting issues independently.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of Department of Defense contracts.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within Aerospace and Defense manufacturing organizations.
- Experience with QAD ERP systems.
- Experience with Sage Fixed Assets software.
- Prior experience supporting inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost structures.
- Experience leading process improvements and recommending enhancements to accounting procedures and controls.

- Capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
