Senior Accountant
About the Firm
You'll be joining a boutique CPA firm based in the greater Atlanta area that specializes in proactive tax advisory and planning for small business owners. The firm works exclusively with small businesses - typically clients managing multiple entities - and prides itself on going beyond compliance to deliver real financial guidance. The team is tight-knit, and the work is meaningful: you're helping business owners actually understand and manage their tax position, not just file returns.
The Role
This is a hands-on Senior Accountant role supporting a small business client portfolio. You'll be the engine that gets financials tax-ready - working in QuickBooks, cleaning up the books, making correcting entries, and ensuring everything is in order before it goes to the Tax Manager or Partners. You'll also serve as the point of contact for coordinating an offshore support team and following up with clients when information is missing or unclear.
This is not a high-volume audit or public accounting grind. It's focused, methodical work with real variety across small business clients.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing tax-ready financials in QuickBooks, including journal entries, adjustments, and corrections
- Reviewing and approving work completed by an offshore accounting support team
- Directing offshore staff on specific tasks such as bank reconciliations
- Following up with clients via email and phone to collect outstanding information
- Spotting issues in the financials and asking the right questions to resolve them
What You Bring
- A solid understanding of small business financials - P&L, balance sheet, and common transaction types
- Hands-on experience preparing financials for tax purposes, including correcting entry work
- Prior experience with small business clients (multi-entity experience is a plus)
- Comfort directing and reviewing the work of a remote/offshore team
- Clear, professional written communication - most client interaction is via email
- QuickBooks proficiency (Online or Desktop)
What You Don't Need
- An active CPA license is not required for this role
- This is not a client-facing sales or advisory position - occasional Zoom calls and email are the extent of client interaction
