Senior Accountant
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will collaborate and provide support on financial and accounting matters for the Central Region. More specifically, this person will effectively collaborate and coordinate with the regional and corporate accounting teams, department leads, and project staff to ensure financial data is accurate for reporting and decision-making purposes and compliant with policies and procedures. This position reports directly to the Senior Finance Business Partner.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the monitoring and reporting on project performance, financial projections, project/business unit cash position, costs and percentage of completion, including following up with customer contacts.
- Assist in the quarterly projection and annual budgeting process of regional and department overhead.
- Review and investigate overhead budget-to-actual variances and communicate timely with the appropriate personnel.
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, year-end close, & annual year-end audit processes for the Central Region ensuring all information and documentation is reviewed and provided in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end close tasks, including cost allocations, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
- Aid in the proof of funding process for construction projects.
- Promote a service-oriented, customer-friendly approach to our accounting and finance operations and facilitate timely resolution of issues and questions within the business unit(s), including project staff.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies within current processes.
- Handle ad hoc special projects and reports, as needed.
Qualifications
- CPA preferred, bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 5 years of demonstrated success accounting experience
- Experience in the construction industry for a General Contractor preferred
- Strong financial acumen, analysis abilities, communication skills and the confidence to collaborate and build relationships with a variety of staff at all levels
- Proactive, adaptable, self-motivated, organized and able to work independently
- Effective problem-solver and decision-maker
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP accounting applications required
- Experience with managing and analyzing WIP schedules required
