Description
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial records of certain Lifespark's business units, including journal entry preparation and posting, managed community invoicing and related reconciliations, month end close ownership, general account reconciliations, financial reviews, and various other accounting responsibilities. Additionally, they will work closely with our broader accounting team to ensure optimal support for our stakeholders.

Position Functions and Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage invoicing for managed community expenses, as well as monthly staffing and management fees, ensuring accuracy, proper allocation, and timely processing.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to streamline the managed community invoicing process and related transactions.
- End-to-end ownership of the accounting functions specific to assigned Lifespark business units, including, but not limited to: Journal entry preparation and posting, Monthly account reconciliation preparation and documentation, Month end analytical reviews of revenue and expenses, All other month end close processes for assigned business units.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Lifespark's and its managed community's general ledger account structures and coding frameworks, ensuring accurate, consistent, and policy-compliant transaction recording.
- Collaborate with accounts payable on invoicing, accruals, prepaid expenses, and managed community accounts payable transactions, ensuring financial activity is captured accurately and timely.
- Conduct monthly meetings with our managed community accounting team to review accounts receivable balances, agings, and any invoice-related reconciling items, ensuring timely resolution of any outstanding issues.
- Maintain adequate documentation to support financial statements, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Support year-end audit, tax preparation, and compliance needs, including timely and accurate workpaper preparation and other ad hoc requests as applicable.
- Research open accounting and compliance issues, document findings, and assist with identifying solutions to those issues.
- Identify and implement other process improvement and automation opportunities within the accounting team.
- Other duties may include: Other general ledger account reconciliations, as assigned, Actively participating in implementation projects and partnering with other business areas, Other duties as assigned, Assist with other monthly accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years in accounting or related field
- Intermediate understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Intermediate understanding of financial systems
- Experience working with purchase orders and vendor management
- Healthcare experience preferred
