Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Manage the general ledger and track unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted net assets
- Oversee fund accounting and ensure proper allocation of expenses across programs and grants
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Support budget development and variance analysis
- Track grant revenues and expenses to ensure funder compliance
- Prepare grant reimbursement reports and financial submissions
- Partner with program teams to monitor spending and timelines
Day-to-Day Accounting Operations
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor relationships
- Oversee payroll entries and liaise with payroll processors
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
- Afford assistance with preparation for the annual audit and Form 990
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit experience
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant tracking
- Proficiency with nonprofit accounting systems (QuickBooks Online)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
