Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key contributor within JRM’s Accounting Department, playing an integral role in the Company’s financial close, reporting, and internal controls.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated workpapers, including review and analysis of the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist in month-end and year-end close activities.
- Actively maintain and review General Ledger accounts and activity, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Aid in the preparation of accruals and work-in-progress schedule.
- Aid in the preparation of consolidated comparative financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement.
- Aid in the preparation of documentation and supporting schedules for annual income tax return filings and audit requests.
- Aid in sales and use tax compliance across multiple states and jurisdictions, including preparation, filing, and payment of returns.
- Aid in ad-hoc accounting projects and financial analysis.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to accounting workflows, policies and internal controls.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, construction accounting is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Excellent computer literacy including experience with Microsoft Office product applications (ex. Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
Pay
To the extent this role is performed in New York City, the annual salary range is $95,000 - $120,000.
