Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and statement of cash flows.
- Ensure compliance with all internal processes and controls as well as regulatory requirements.
- Handle multi-state tax filings and coordinate audits, as necessary.
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insight to support business decisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize the financial close process.
- Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in managing multi-state tax and sales and use and maintaining fixed asset schedules.
- Proven experience with general ledger functions, preparing journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
