Senior Accountant
About the role
The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting & Compliance Supervisor and will play a key part in supporting daily operations. The role involves overseeing the work of Junior and Staff Accountants, managing the month-end close process, maintaining bank and balance sheet reconciliations, creating analytics, and facilitating meetings.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a team lead overseeing the day-to-day work of Junior and Staff Accountants, providing direction, support, and guidance.
- Manage the month-end close process, including running reports for all broker management and general ledger systems, overseeing monthly accruals, true-ups, settlements, and bad debt calculations, and ensuring GL offsets and source adjustments are identified, cleared, and completed on time.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the bank and balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring all reconciliations are accurate, timely, and compliant with company policies, SOX standards, and GAAP requirements.
- Create value and reduce risk by preparing analytics and reporting, including variance analysis, KPIs, key process tracking, and discrepancy resolution, to assess and support financial health.
- Facilitate meetings, prepare presentations, and present information to the team and leadership as needed.
- Support and drive ongoing projects and initiatives, including the accounting conversion from various broker management and acquisition systems into the company’s broker management system, with the opportunity to oversee related accounting system processes.
- Research and analyze data as requested and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the accounting field, including at least 1 year of experience leading a team or leading others.
- Demonstrated ability to guide, motivate, and influence individuals and teams to achieve goals and maintain high performance standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally across various audiences.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and remain flexible during peak periods when additional hours may be required.
- Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-moving, continually evolving environment.
- Experience with Blackline and/or experience in the insurance industry is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.
- Preferred CPA or pursuing CPA completion.

Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $72,000 – $85,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
