About the role
Detailed accounting and reconciliation for all Real Estate construction, acquisition, divestiture, and occupancy activity.
Responsibilities
- Track all project costs and balances for real estate projects from inception to completion
- Reconcile all project balances to General Ledger accounts
- Participate in periodic real estate meetings
- Review invoices and invoice coding with real estate personnel
- Provide information for Capital Budget process and reporting (to executives & board of directors)
- Formulate, publish, and ensure compliance with real estate accounting policies (capitalization of costs/interest, accounting treatment of costs and expenses)
- Review leases to ensure appropriate GAAP treatment
- Perform Capital Lease testing and analysis
- Account for all leases under ASC 842
- Review utility payments for accuracy
- Review property operating statements for accuracy
- Perform financial analysis and review General Ledger account reconciliations
- Participate in internal and external audit, including preparation of required schedules, analysis, footnotes, and responding to auditor inquiries
- Ensure timeliness of rent payments to landlords
- Serve as key liaison between accounting and real estate department
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
- Minimum five (5) years experience in accounting
- Construction/Development Accounting experience is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Lawson ERP or Infor CloudSuite Financials is a plus
