Senior Accountant
Job Summary
H.J. Russell is seeking a Senior Accountant with a construction background to join the finance team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, at least 5 years of experience in a corporate or construction accounting environment, and CPA certification or be in the process of obtaining it. The position involves executing tasks across the Finance function, providing accounting support, and interacting with Operations Management and Ownership.
Responsibilities
- Work with business partners, including Operations, to ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, controls, and provide support as needed.
- Record journal entries for monthly accounting activity.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Review the general ledger for accuracy and perform variance analyses.
- Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, and benchmarks.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from across the Company and external stakeholders.
- Assist with audits, including interim and final fieldwork.
- Help with any projects requested.
Qualifications & Experience
- An accounting professional with a construction background, preferably with experience using CMIC ERP.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a four-year accredited college or university.
- At least 5 years of experience within a Corporate and/or Construction Accounting environment.
- CPA certification or in the process of obtaining CPA.
- A good understanding of accounting theory and US GAAP.
