Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant at Gravitate Energy is responsible for overseeing the financial functions of the company, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury, payroll, benefits, tax compliance, and financial reporting. This role involves direct oversight of these areas and ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial functions, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), treasury, and payroll/benefits administration.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly close processes, reconciliations, and internal audits.
• Design processes and procedures to facilitate achieving target close within 5-10 days.
• Oversee tax filings, compliance requirements, and insurance coverage to mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Provide actionable insights via financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting.
• Design and implement scalable financial systems, processes, and controls to support rapid expansion.

Requirements

• Solid knowledge of financial and accounting GAAP principles including experience working with fundamental accounting principles such as revenue recognition and accruals.
• Expertise in financial systems and tools (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms).
• Self-starter with the ability to independently identify, research, and resolve issues, manage competing priorities, and execute responsibilities with minimal oversight.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present complex financial data clearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience with 2+ years experience in public Accounting.
• Experience in monthly accounting close and financial reporting processes.
