About the role

As a Senior Accountant at Fiserv, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes. Leveraging your analytical skills and attention to detail, you will prepare and post journal entries, prepare account reconciliations, and assist in the monthly financial close. Your contributions will support our commitment to compliance with GAAP and enhance our operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries for posting to the general ledger along with monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Analyze, verify, and record financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare reporting and analysis to support understanding of assigned balance sheet accounts and to aid in business unit processes.
  • Maintain documentation of all relevant processes and procedures as changes occur.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to obtain necessary information, clarify variances, and support compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries, including documentation requests and control walkthroughs.
  • Contribute to process improvements that increase the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of close and reconciliation activities.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned; responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a corporate, public accounting, or similar financial environment.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, performing general ledger account reconciliations, and supporting a monthly financial close process.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and basic macros) to analyze and reconcile financial data.
  • Experience with accounting principles, including GAAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial statement presentation and basic U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting concepts.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
  • Experience with process improvement, standardization, and documentation of accounting procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships, influence decision-making, and present financial information to non-financial audiences.

Qualifications

  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

$57,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year. These pay ranges apply to employees in Maryland. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.

Schedule

This role is on-site Monday through Friday in Hagerstown, MD or Alpharetta, GA. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity. This role may require extra hours the week of month end close.
