Senior Accountant
Position Summary
EAH is Seeking a Senior Accountant who will primarily provide financial information to management and ensure the integrity of accounting data by recording, verifying, and entering transactions. Candidate will be a member of the accounting department and will report directly to and work alongside the Corporate Controller. This position will be based out of the company's Wadsworth, Ohio headquarters. This dynamic environment will include assistance in but not limited to financial systems management; period close activities; and audit support. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably at larger or middle market companies. He/she must have a detailed understanding of US GAAP and operations in a manufacturing/ distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all monthly close cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP standards
- Maintain and reconcile significant transaction cycles, such as cash, payroll and accruals
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare and record assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense entries for daily, monthly, quarterly and annual periods
- Maintain and reconcile CIP activities for appropriate in-service changes and tracking
- Reconcile sales tax data between financial systems and Avalara
- Serve as a liaison with external auditors and prepare supporting schedules and documentation
- Partner cross-functionally to respond to departmental requests for financial data, analysis, and reporting support
Compliance and Control
- Enforce strong internal processes and controls to maximize protection of company assets
- Enhance policies, procedures and workflows, reconciliation schedules and analyses that support a strong internal control environment
- Capture and coordinate the timely and accurate completion of all sales and use tax and VAT/GST tax returns.
Reporting / Analysis
- Support EAH accounting leadership with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Support and advise senior management of potential pitfalls or operational issues that could have significant impact on company benchmarks.
- Execute ad-hoc financial/quantitative analysis and various requests in support of EAH leadership.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, preferred - MBA a plus
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a senior accounting role
- Strong accounting background – well versed in all aspects of U.S. GAAP
- Major ERP systems experience – NetSuite and/or Great Plains experience is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and managing large Excel based models and data sets required
- Ability to be adaptive to frequent changes in priorities, organization, and strategy.
- Experience with manufacturing and distribution business models.
