Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant supports the Professional Tools Finance organization under the Manager of Accounting & Financial Reporting. This role is based in either Rockford, Illinois or Elyria, Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of various accrual accounts and applicable journal entries
• Performing account reconciliations to ensure transactions comply with accounting standards
• Monthly review of key account reconciliations
• Supporting annual internal and external audits by collaborating cross-functionally
• Engaging in project work related to system upgrades/implementations
• Maintaining financial controls as the process owner for key accounting processes
• Leading process improvement and data management initiatives
• Auditing compliance with standard operating procedures and internal controls
• Assisting with ad hoc reporting requests
• Ensuring all duties are performed in accordance with Company Business Conduct Guidelines

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field
• At least 4 years of related experience in accounting or finance
• Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and analytical/technical skills
• Ability to motivate by leading others
• Prioritize, work independently, and in a group setting
• Accounting-focused with a good knowledge of GAAP
• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field and/or CPA
• Experience working in a manufacturing industry
• JDE and/or Hyperion experience
