Senior Accountant

Primary Responsibilities

1. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
2. Perform variance analysis and provide insights to leadership.
3. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
4. Support management reporting and business performance analysis.
5. Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
6. Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes.
7. Maintain supporting schedules and documentation.
8. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
9. Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
10. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
11. Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
12. Assist in implementation of audit recommendations.
13. Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
14. Analyze financial trends and support planning initiatives.
15. Partner with branch and operational leaders to align financial goals.
16. Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and workflows.
17. Support ERP system enhancements and optimization.
18. Improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial operations.
19. Collaborate with operations, sales, and leadership teams.
20. Provide financial insights to support business decisions.
21. Mentor and review work of staff accountants as needed.
22. Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in distribution, wholesale, or multi-location environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Leadership competencies including strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and accuracy, effective communication, and a process-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement focus.
