Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD (Hybrid)
Schedule: 2-3 days onsite per week (may flex to 1-2 days)
Duration: 2-3 Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Hire

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to join their team in a critical accounting support role. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys owning key aspects of the accounting cycle. The position offers the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the monthly close process
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
• Assist with or oversee payroll accounting activities
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Support financial reporting and ensure timely, accurate accounting records
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve processes

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong General Ledger and month-end close experience
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• AP, AR, and payroll accounting experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Great Plains is a significant plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, prioritize deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Pay

Target conversion salary of $80,000-$100,000
