About the role
The Senior Account Clerk supports core financial operations at SUNY Broome Community College, including general accounting, payroll reconciliation, payment issuance, grant billing, new vendor set up, and capital project transactions. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the organization's financial information.
Responsibilities
- Review and record journal entries
- Verify data accuracy
- Ensure proper accounting distribution
- New vendor setup and verification
- Reconciliation of accounts
- Maintain thorough documentation for audit and compliance purposes
- Processing/issuance of payment for Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Student Refunds
- Review daily control reports and subsidiary ledger feeds to reconcile financial activity
- Identify and report discrepancies appropriately
- Support in audits by compiling and submitting appropriate documentation for all transactions
- Review and verify data for capital projects
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor capital budgets and assist with various capital project reporting
Requirements
- Graduation from a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree or higher in accounting, business, or a closely related field
- Completion of 60 credit hours at a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university which must have included at least twelve credit hours in accounting or bookkeeping
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above
