About the role
Integrated Fire and Security Solutions is seeking a motivated Security Technician Helper to join our Orlando, FL team. This is a physically active, entry-level role supporting the installation of fire alarm and security systems including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection (IDS) on new construction and retrofit projects across the Central Florida region. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the low-voltage/life safety industry, with on-the-job training and a growth path in the industry. We're looking for a reliable, hands-on worker willing to learn & develop in the trade.
Responsibilities
- Assist Technicians with the installation of fire alarm and security system components, including mounting devices and panels.
- Pull cable and run conduit through attics, crawl spaces, ceilings, and other confined or hard-to-access areas.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as drilling, fishing wire, and mounting equipment.
- Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
- Support material staging, tool organization, and jobsite setup/cleanup to keep installations on schedule.
- Aid in basic wiring and terminations as directed and trained by senior technicians.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards, including proper use of PPE, ladders, and lifts.
- Learn to read basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device layouts under the guidance of senior staff.
- Communicate professionally with Lead Technicians, Project Managers, and site contacts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support project completion.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in general labor, construction, or a related trade; Security or low-voltage industry experience a plus.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work safely as part of a team.
- Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Willingness to learn low-voltage systems, tools, and industry terminology.
- Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSS 10 certification (or willingness to obtain).
