About the role
The Security Service Technician is responsible for independently performing service and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. The technician ensures systems operate properly, meets customer expectations, and supports compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
- Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
- Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
- Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
- Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
- Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
- Travel to job sites as required.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
- Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
- Ability to work independently and complete standard service jobs without direct supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
- Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
- Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
