Security Service Technician

About the role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Service Technician to join our dynamic team. This role involves servicing and supporting existing customers through responding to service calls, conducting Customer Support Programs, and executing small projects.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to routine and some non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours service calls on a timely basis.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts, and debug systems for routine problems.
  • Install projects as necessary.
  • Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Identify and resolve problems for various types of service calls, including emergency and after-hours calls.
  • Analyze repair requirements and provide customers with appropriate solutions; complete necessary repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customers and Convergint in a timely manner to facilitate accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
  • May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits, and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation.
  • Execute all service calls in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with and work with other team members to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center and the company.
  • Primarily perform preventative maintenance for installed systems that are typically less complex.
  • Work closely with other specialists to cross-train on servicing existing customers by responding to service calls, conducting Customer Support Programs, and executing small projects.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Solid technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Self-starter and works well with direct supervision.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 3-5 years servicing, integrating, and programming access control and CCTV systems.
  • Relevant field service experience with CCTV systems from Milestone, Genetec, and Hirsch.
  • Relevant field service experience with Access Control systems from AMAG, Lenel, Genetec, and Software House - CCURE, S2, and Hirsch.
  • Relevant field service experience with Intrusion systems from DMP, Bosch, and Hirsch.
