Job Summary
The Screening Officer is an officer that maintains security and safety of people and the property. Identifies and escalates issues in accordance with documented policies and procedures. Provides strong customer service, access control, loss prevention, incident response, observation and reporting for all safety and security incidents.
Evaluations & Escalations
Evaluates and escalates potential safety issues within the facility. Identifies security shortfalls and offers suggestions from improving the security program.
Standard Operating Procedures
Read and apply the Screening Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitoring
- Monitor traffic flow through screening checkpoint(s).
- Require datacenter personnel to utilize metal detection and/or wand for entrance to and exit of secure areas.
- Perform handheld wand searches and walk through metal detection searches.
Other Duties
- Evaluate and escalate potential safety issues within the facility.
- Notify supervisor upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Above average computer / technology skills needed.
- Security, Law Enforcement, or Military experience a plus.
- Excellent customer service and team leadership skills needed.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
- Must have great attention to detail and remain vigilant throughout shift.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies with rapid / effective judgment and use appropriate escalation.
Competencies
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet licensing requirements for security officers, as applicable to local, county and state laws and regulations.
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications and authorizations specified for the assigned accounts.
- Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
- Knowledge of fire inspection procedures.
- Capable of learning a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
- Ability to track and maintain schedule assignments.
- Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.

Working Conditions

- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time.
- Walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
- Ability to carry up to 2.5-pound device during the entire shift.
- Depending on assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
