About the role
Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Technician to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibilities include:
- Installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects.
- Delivering assigned projects effectively and within budgeted cost and time schedules.
- Acting as the key interface for technical support with the customer and maximizing customer satisfaction.
- Mentoring less-experienced staff.
Responsibilities
As a Security Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Installing, programming, testing, repairing, and servicing a substantial variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
- Providing technical support and training for the customer, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Operating systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
- Writing non-routine programs of substantial variety and complexity for systems.
- Taking ownership of onsite projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance.
- Performing custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits, and consultation.
- Consulting with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Isolating and fixing problems in malfunctioning equipment or software using solid troubleshooting skills.
- Advancing customer satisfaction by advising management regarding product performance, installation techniques, and standards, and suggesting product improvements.
- Participating or assisting with developing customer presentations or similar new business development activities.
- Executing all the technical aspects of multiple projects, including preparation of project deliverables, programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
- Identifying potential project risks, communicating to appropriate parties, and assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
- Mentoring and training less experienced staff.
- Supervising and overseeing subcontractors and installation work, making recommendations regarding quality of work, and identifying ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure consistently.
- Strong technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Advanced math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience.
- Prior experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation is preferred but not required.
