Security Officer Visitor Access Services

Overview

The role is a Part‑Time Security Officer – Visitor Access Services in Norfolk, VA, serving clients in logistics & distribution and other industries. The position involves monitoring entry points, verifying credentials, managing visitor and badge access, and communicating professionally with employees, drivers, and guests.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, drivers, visitors, and contractors by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities at a marine terminal location.
• Control access to the facility by verifying identification, visitor credentials, delivery documentation, and authorization for personnel, vehicles, and contractors entering or exiting the location.
• Monitor entry and exit points, maintain accurate visitor and vehicle logs, and communicate access concerns or unusual activity to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, parking areas, perimeter areas, and cargo‑handling surroundings; working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

Minimum Requirements

• At least one year of security‑related experience.
• Possess a TSA‑issued TWIC.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation and drug screen as required by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment, subject to state/local regulations.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Pay

$18.80 per hour.

Schedule

Part‑Time, Daytime shifts:

• Wednesday: 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM
• Thursday: 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM
• Friday: 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM
