SECURITY OFFICER - SURGERY CENTER SOUTH - FULL TIME

Category I position per OSHA definitions; tasks involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. Appropriate protective measures are required.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol premises to detect and prevent intrusion; ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Check and log unlocked doors/windows; report to Director.
  • Monitor activity and traffic in assigned area to enforce LSDC rules/regulations; alert visitors of infractions.
  • Ensure only authorized parking in company lot.
  • Assist visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance/departure of employees, visitors, deliveries, and vehicles to guard against theft and maintain security, including tracking stock movement.
  • Respond to alarms and calls during scheduled shifts; assess situations and take appropriate action within position limitations.
  • Determine when incidents require written reports; complete and submit reports to Director of HR & Credentialing.
  • Warn or apprehend violators for rule infractions, using force when necessary.
  • Assist law enforcement with crowd control and surveillance during disturbances.
  • Participate in fire, safety, and disaster drills as directed.
  • Report fire hazards and unsafe conditions to proper authorities.
  • Maintain professional attire and grooming standards while in uniform.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, reflecting a positive image of LSDC.
  • Carry a cell phone during working hours for immediate response communication.
  • Enforce parking permits and locker regulations for employees, physicians, and health professionals.
  • Control and track all keys to Florida Ave and Griffin Road facilities.
  • Maintain current, active CPR certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, tact, respect, and courtesy when interacting with team members.
  • Use constructive means to avoid friction and promote mutual trust, acceptance, and respect.
  • Exercise good judgment in reporting serious or questionable matters.
  • Comply with safety and emergency procedures consistent with Center policy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fire emergency procedures and disaster plans; complete annual fire safety review.
  • Report unusual occurrences to Director of HR & Credentialing; respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Maintain a hazard-free environment; use proper techniques and body mechanics for lifting.
  • Initiate actions to protect patients, self, and others from environmental hazards.
  • Comply with all Center and personnel policies, including attendance (maintain absenteeism at 3% or less, excluding holidays and vacation).
  • Follow proper procedures for sickness, absenteeism, lateness, overtime, and special requests.
  • Adhere to departmental dress code and demonstrate flexibility in working hours/days to meet Center needs.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for individual actions; respect confidentiality and dignity of all individuals.
  • Pursue professional growth; stay updated on changing Center and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participate in in-service educational programs and complete monthly mandatory staff education.
  • Involve local travel to other campuses as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Two years’ experience in police or security field; OR equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
  • Active military service with honorable discharge preferred.
  • Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Bilingual capability preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts (probability, statistical inference, basic math) and their practical application (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions).
  • Ability to apply logical/scientific thinking to intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) and work with abstract/concrete variables.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects/tools/controls and reach with hands/arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to assist in evacuating patients during emergencies.
  • Occasionally required to run or move quickly to respond to emergencies.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • Seldom works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, extreme heat, radiation, and moderate noise levels.
