Security Officer Patrol Operations

About the role

As an Unarmed Security Officer at a shelter location in Jamaica, NY, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond professionally to concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Monitor access to the shelter location, verify authorized entry, maintain visitor logs, and report unauthorized access or suspicious activity to site management and/or appropriate personnel.
• Respond to resident concerns, incidents, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner while following established reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of interior common areas, entrances, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify maintenance, access control, or security-related concerns.
• Document incidents, observations, patrol activity, and daily occurrences in required reports, and communicate relevant information to supervisors and incoming personnel.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

$18.87 / hour

• Wednesday: 07:30 AM - 11:30 AM
• Thursday: 07:30 AM - 03:30 PM
• Friday: 03:30 PM - 11:30 PM
• Saturday: 03:30 PM - 11:30 PM
