About the role

As a Part-Time Security Officer specializing in Electronic Entry Control in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Utilities. This role offers flexibility to build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles using our Claim a Shift platform. As an Access Control Officer, you will help maintain a secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials, managing badge access, and responding to security-related concerns. You will provide outstanding customer service, communicate professionally with employees and visitors, and support daily operations through teamwork and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utility location.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorization, manage visitor and contractor entry, and maintain accurate access-related records.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established escalation and notification procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned facilities, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify unauthorized access, unusual activity, or potential hazards.
• Communicate professionally with site personnel and Allied Universal leadership regarding access-related concerns, incidents, and shift activity.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Pay

$18.30 - $19.30 / hour

Schedule

• Friday: 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM
• Saturday: 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM
• Sunday: 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM
