Security Officer Part Time Transportation Terminal

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and personnel by carrying out site‑specific procedures, policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of ferry terminals, passenger waiting areas, boarding areas, waterfront perimeters, and adjacent facilities to help identify and report unusual activity or conditions.
• Monitor access points and restricted areas, verify authorization as directed, and assist with managing visitor and contractor entry procedures.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a visible presence to help deter unauthorized activity while providing directions and assistance to the public.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid New York State Security Guard License.
• At least 1 year of security‑related experience.
• Age 18 or older for unarmed roles (21 or older for armed roles).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful background investigation in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Drug screening as permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements subject to state and/or local regulations; may be required prior to employment.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Pay

$18.87 per hour.

Schedule

Daytime – Saturday 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM; Sunday 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
