About the role
As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor access activity, and maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents. You will provide exceptional customer service and clear communication while supporting a welcoming environment for employees and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to airport visitors, employees, contractors, and other authorized personnel while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
- Monitor and control access at assigned entry points by verifying identification, credentials, badges, and authorization in accordance with established access-control procedures.
- Operate access-control systems, maintain accurate visitor and contractor logs, issue or collect credentials as authorized, and report discrepancies or unauthorized access attempts.
- Respond to access-control incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate airport personnel and emergency responders as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, surrounding areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized entry and identify security-related concerns.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Qualifications
- A valid guard card or license is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
Pay
$16.97 / Hour
Schedule
- Wednesday: 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Thursday: 10:00 PM - 06:00 AM
