Security Officer Part Time Access Control

About the role
As a Security Officer Entry Point Monitor in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Logistics & Distribution. This part-time role allows you to build a flexible schedule and explore new opportunities using our Claim a Shift platform. You will manage access control, monitor entry points, check credentials, and support security-related procedures at a busy logistics and distribution location.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and drivers by following site-specific access control procedures, badge and credential verification practices, and security-related policies.
- Monitor entry and exit points for the distribution facility, verify authorized access for personnel, contractors, and deliveries, and document visitor and vehicle activity according to post instructions.
- Respond to incidents, access issues, alarm activations, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or emergency personnel when appropriate.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility, shipping and receiving areas, trailer yards, parking areas, and perimeter to identify unusual activity or conditions requiring attention.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports related to access control activity, incidents, policy violations, and daily operations to support site awareness and security procedures.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal considers qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable laws.
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.
