About the role

The Security Officer - Level III at Dollywood Parks & Resorts is responsible for protecting people and property, maintaining a peaceful, fun-filled and safe atmosphere, and enforcing security procedures. This role involves assisting guests and hosts with vehicle problems, transporting and escorting money, responding to calls for service, and providing dignitary protection services. The ideal candidate must demonstrate Lead with Love qualities, such as patience, kindness, trust, unselfishness, truthfulness, forgiveness, dedication, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Animal control
  • Assist Guests and Hosts with vehicle problems
  • Assist in the transport and escort of monies
  • Assist the Safety-First Aid Department as assigned
  • Assist with fire and flood prevention
  • Control and direct on park traffic
  • Control park access at Host and service entrances
  • Crowd control
  • Help guests find their way
  • Issue tickets for illegally parked Host vehicles
  • Maintain Fire Suppression Systems
  • Maintain Park alarm systems
  • Patrol buildings
  • Patrol Guest and Host parking lots
  • Provide Dignitary Protection Services for visiting celebrities
  • Respond to calls for service regarding unruly Guests/Hosts
  • Respond to calls for service, i.e., shoplifting, burglary and theft
  • Reunite lost persons on park
  • Take possession of lost property and returning same to Lost & Found
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents as needed

Requirements

  • Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of others
  • At least one year of experience working successfully in a similar role
  • Prior Law Enforcement or Security related experience preferred
  • State of Tennessee certified as a Security Officer
  • Licensed by the Department of Commerce & Insurance Private Protection Services
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license and state required auto insurance
  • First Aid and CPR certification required or ability to obtain a certification in a timely manner
  • First Responder Course completion and ability to apply material when needed
  • State of Tennessee certified police officer
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Background check including a motor vehicle report and drug screen
  • Pass a credit check
  • Conviction history check
  • Physical examination by a licensed physician
  • Fingerprinting on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation
  • Good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency; and/or the POST Commission
  • Certified by a Tennessee Licensed Health Care Provider qualified in the psychiatric or psychological fields
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Applications
  • Knowledge of Dollywood’s policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Ability to develop skill in the use and care of firearms
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged information
  • Ability to promote and support a “team” work environment by cooperating and helping co-workers
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights up to 60 ft.
  • Ability to report to work without being under the influence of or smelling of alcohol or any other drug
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire drug screen and random or for cause drug screens as directed by the Company
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long/short periods
  • Ability to have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights up to 60 ft.
  • Ability to tolerate various temperatures while working indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to operate/drive a company vehicle with valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests and Hosts using approved methods of communication
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and retain information
  • Ability to perform duties consistent with creating a safe and secure environment for hosts and guests
  • Ability to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities
  • Ability to tolerate repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Ability to maintain dependability in work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to be sensitive to the needs of our Guests and feel empowered to act to meet their needs within company guidelines
  • Ability to utilize effective communication, problem solving, conflict management and interpersonal skills

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $18.00 per hour, with potential for advancement based on performance and experience.

Schedule

Shifts may vary depending on the needs of the park, but typically include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required during peak seasons.
