Job Duties

• To provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at ESH by handling difficult individuals (i.e. physically control, confine and restrain) during difficult situations.
• Maintain adequate coverage in order for the Public Safety Department to fulfill its mission statement at Eastern State Hospital.
• Each officer is sworn by the Court of Williamsburg/James City County and is fully empowered to make an arrest for any State and Local violation.
• This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need.
• All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in preparing reports and investigation techniques.
• Valid Driver's License with good driving record.
• Experience in conducting foot and/or vehicle patrol.
• Experience in Law Enforcement, Security, Or related fields and positions meeting and dealing with the general public as a supplier for security services.

Additional Considerations

• Certification as a Special Conservator of the Peace.
• Experience utilizing various computer software.
