Security Officer (Full-Time, Temporary, PMs)

Shift: PMS • Days off: Variable • Hours per pay period: 80 • Shift length: 10 Hours

About the role

This position is part of an organized hospital-wide program which promotes the personal safety of employees, physicians, volunteers, patients, visitors, and others having business in the hospital. The Security Officer is responsible for protecting, preventing, observing, and reporting any situations concerning the hospital, and to take appropriate action when necessary. The Security Officer I position is an entry-level role that provides experience for those interested in healthcare, law enforcement, or social work.

Responsibilities

• Protect and promote the personal safety of employees, patients, visitors, and others within the hospital
• Prevent, observe, and report security-related situations
• Take appropriate action as necessary in response to incidents
• Produce concise, accurate, and well-written reports
• Respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner

Requirements

• California State Consumer Affairs Guard Card (obtained before completion of the probationary period, approximately 90 days after hire)
• Current CPR recognition (American Heart Association-Health Care Provider or American Red Cross – Professional Rescuer) (within 90 days of hire)
• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
• Ability to follow instructions and policy and procedures
• Strong public relations skills
• Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position

Qualifications

• Previous security experience
• College-level courses in law enforcement, security, or a related field, or completion of basic law enforcement training
• Hospital experience
• Previous customer service experience

Pay

Compensation range: $21.28 - $28.73 per hour, based on applicable experience.
