Security Officer - Full-Time

About the role

This position conducts armed patrols of hospital premises both on foot and in vehicles to ensure security, manage access control, visitor flow, and traffic safety. The officer acts as an armed first responder to emergencies and security incidents, collaborates with law enforcement, and provides protective escorts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct armed patrols of the hospital grounds on foot and in vehicles.
• Manage access control, visitor flow, and traffic safety.
• Respond to emergencies and security incidents as an armed first responder.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies.
• Provide protective escorts for personnel and visitors.
• Observe, investigate, and document safety threats.
• Conduct interviews, prepare incident reports, and handle dispatch operations.
• Manage property control procedures to safeguard and release items according to security protocols.

Qualifications

• Armed security credentials such as FOID, PERC, FCC, and firearms training, with the ability to qualify and maintain firearm proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license from Illinois, Wisconsin, or Indiana with an acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or GED; hospital security experience preferred.
• IAHSS certification to be earned within six months of hire.

Skills

• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, walking, exposure to weather, and wearing body armor.
• Sound judgment and discretion.
• Strong customer service skills.
