Allied Universal® is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced for Patrol Communications in Reading, PA. DayTime – Wednesday 07:00 AM – 02:30 PM; Friday 12:30 PM – 06:00 PM

How This Role Works

Fixed‑Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule, requiring a six‑month commitment.

Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time one week and full‑time the next, with the flexibility to scale up to 40 hours per week or scale back as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and problem‑solving, following established campus protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout the location, reporting suspicious behavior, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Complete accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation in accordance with Allied Universal and site‑specific procedures.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of security‑related experience.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet (preferred).
• Customer service experience (preferred).
• Minimum age: 18 years for unarmed roles; 21 years for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful background investigation in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Drug screening as permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply based on state or local regulations.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.
