Security Officer (Commercial)

Job Summary

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

About the Role

This role involves controlling access, monitoring entrances and exits, patrolling the site, reporting incidents, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Controls access to the client site or facility through the admittance process
• Aids visitors with legitimate needs to enter the facility
• Screens visitors and client employees efficiently
• Communicates openly, honestly, and responsively with visitors and clients
• Maintains an atmosphere where client employees and visitors feel cared for and respected
• Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle
• Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, and unauthorized persons
• Protects evidence or scenes of incidents and sets up barriers and signage
• Prepares logs or reports as required for site
• Reports incidents or suspicious activity to relevant parties
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Basic knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures
• Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly
• Ability to carry out instructions and write routine correspondence
• Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization
• Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills
• Basic skills in keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls

Qualifications

• United States citizenship preferred
• Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements
