Security Officer Armed - Recruit

Overview

Sentara Health is hiring a Security Officer Armed – Recruit for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This full‑time, night‑shift position is a transitional role for newly hired security officers who will complete the training and certifications required to become an Armed Security Officer within 120 days.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Certification/Licensure: State DMV Motor Vehicle Record and a current valid driver’s license (required)
• Experience: 1 year of security, military, or police experience (preferred)
• Pre‑employment screening: fitness assessment and psychological evaluation; annual fitness assessment and psychological evaluations every 3 years are required for continued employment.

Schedule

• Full‑time, night shift
• Hours: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am (8‑hour shifts)
• Rotating weekends

Pay

The base pay range for full‑time employment is $19.86 – $29.15 hourly. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, standby/on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
