Security Officer Armed - Hospital Access

About the role

As an Armed Security Officer in a healthcare location in Columbia, SC, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This driving post combines customer service, clear communication, and security-related response responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and contractors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities within a healthcare location.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, requesting additional support and/or emergency services when appropriate.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with access-control procedures, and report suspicious behavior, hazards, and policy violations to site leadership.
• Carry authorized equipment in accordance with applicable laws, Allied Universal policies, and site-specific requirements; complete accurate incident reports and daily activity documentation.

Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
