About the role
As an Armed Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor visitor activity, and maintain a visible presence that helps deter security-related incidents. You will provide professional customer service and clear communication while supporting a welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and authorized personnel while carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government office location.
- Monitor access points, verify identification and authorization, maintain visitor logs, and direct guests in accordance with established procedures.
- Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entrances, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
- Complete required reports and maintain accurate records of access-control activities, incidents, and unusual observations.
Requirements
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- Possess an armed guard card or license.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Valid firearms permit is preferred.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security-related training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
