Security Officer 1, 2, and 3

About the role

The Department of Public Safety and Security at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, seeks Full Time Security Officers 1, Security Officers 2, and Security Officers 3.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned property and grounds to ensure the safety of building occupants and safeguard institutional property.
• Provides assistance to individuals that are on University grounds in the event of an emergency.
• Maintains security, fire, and environmental alarms.
• Responds to emergency calls for assistance and disasters.
• Investigates unusual incidents reported by UM staff, visitors, physicians, and patients.
• Ensures excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Completes reports and incident documentation as necessary.
• Controls evidence, valuables, and lost/found items as necessary.
• Operates UM vehicles in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University of Miami.
• Works independently with minimal supervision and high public contact.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience for Security Officer 1.
• Minimum 3 year of relevant experience for Security Officer 2.
• Minimum 10 years of Law-Enforcement or Military Police experience for Security Officer 3.
• Valid State of Florida driver’s license REQUIRED.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle REQUIRED.

Qualifications

• For Security Officer 1: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• For Security Officer 2: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• For Security Officer 3: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Skills

• Excellent verbal intervention techniques.
• Good handling of disruptive and combative individuals.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
