Security Installation Foreman – Access Control

LINX · Denver, CO · 2 mo ago
Information Technology$41–$47/hrFull-time

LINX is hiring a Security Installation Foreman to lead a crew of up to 10 technicians on commercial construction projects across Denver and the Front Range. This is a working foreman role for someone with hands-on experience installing and commissioning Genetec (our primary access control and video management platform), Avigilon video management, and Software House / CCure 9000 access control systems.

About the Role

This role is ideal for someone with a background in leading access control crews on occupied commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, and corporate campuses. If your experience is primarily in CCTV installation, intrusion alarm service, or residential security, this may not be the right fit.

Career progression at LINX: Technician I → Technician II → Technician III → Lead Technician → Foreman → Superintendent → Project Manager → Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Crew Leadership & Site Management
    • Lead and directly supervise a crew of up to 10 security installation technicians on active commercial construction jobsites.
    • Own daily manpower planning, labor allocation, and materials coordination to hit project milestones.
    • Mentor and train Technician I through III staff on Genetec, Avigilon, Software House / CCure 9000, I-Star, Mercury Security, and HID installation and programming standards.
    • Delegate daily task assignments and enforce LINX installation standards across the crew.
  • System Integration & Technical Oversight
    • Interpret and apply project drawings, door hardware schedules, cabling standards, wiring schematics, relay logic, and electrical circuitry to guide crew installation work.
    • Oversee programming, configuration, and commissioning of Genetec access control and video management systems, along with Avigilon video management and Software House / CCure 9000 access control systems.
    • Troubleshoot access control and video surveillance issues at the crew level before they become schedule risks.
    • Perform daily QA/QC review of technician installation and termination work.
  • Schedule, Quality & Compliance
    • Deliver crew output on schedule, coordinating directly with the Project Manager on progress, blockers, and milestone risk.
    • Enforce safety management and HR policy compliance across the crew daily.
    • Ensure all installed work meets contractual scope, technical specification, and LINX quality standards.
    • Conduct daily site walks to verify jobsite condition, safety compliance, and installation quality.
  • Communication & Coordination
    • Provide daily progress updates to the Project Manager on schedule status, crew productivity, and open issues.
    • Coordinate directly with trade partners, GC site supervisors, and other LINX teams on scope and scheduling conflicts.
    • Attend coordination meetings representing the security scope of work.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial security integration experience, including hands-on access control and video surveillance installation, programming, and commissioning (not primarily CCTV monitoring installation or intrusion alarm service).
  • Direct hands-on experience installing and commissioning Genetec access control and video management systems.
  • Direct hands-on experience installing and commissioning Avigilon video management systems and Software House / CCure 9000 access control systems.
  • Proven crew leadership experience directly supervising a security installation crew of 10 or more technicians on commercial construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and IP networking as applied to security devices.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, door hardware schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and set up 50+ pound equipment, cable reels, and ladders.
  • Must own personal low voltage hand tools (snips, strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches).
  • Valid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as required by project schedule.
  • Must pass a 7-year criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Manufacturer certifications on I-Star controllers, Mercury Security panels, or HID credential systems.
  • Direct experience managing subcontractor and trade partner relationships.

This Role Is Probably Not Right For You If

  • Your security experience is primarily residential alarm or camera installation rather than commercial access control integration.
  • You install and service CCTV or intrusion detection systems but have limited or no hands-on access control programming experience on Genetec, Avigilon, or Software House / CCure 9000.
  • You're a low voltage generalist whose exposure to security scope is incidental, with most of your background in structured cabling, fire alarm, or AV.

Pay

$41.00–$47.00/hour depending on experience level.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with 50% employer match on first 5% contributed.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and HSA options.
  • Short and long-term disability coverage.
  • 3 weeks PTO (vacation and sick combined).
  • 8 paid holidays.
  • Vehicle allowance / mileage reimbursement.
  • Cell phone allowance.
  • Manufacturer training and certification support on Genetec, Avigilon, Software House, and other platforms LINX installs.
  • Direct advancement path to Superintendent.

Our Security division installs and integrates commercial access control and video surveillance systems for corporate offices, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and government buildings across the Front Range and beyond, working daily on Genetec, Avigilon, Software House, CCure 9000, I-Star, Mercury Security, and HID platforms. As LINX expands into new regional markets, foremen who can stand up and lead new crews are the backbone of that growth, and this role is a direct pipeline into Superintendent and Project Manager positions.
