Security Guard II - ADESA Mercer

About the role
Reporting to the Inspections or Operations Manager, you will execute facility processes to protect team members, customers, and assets. As the face of ADESA at our gates, you will ensure adherence to Inventory Control procedures, utilize ADESA technology, and support vehicle location research. This hourly position may require working various shifts and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises.
- Sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergency.
- Verify only authorized individuals enter the property.
- Provide facility directions to customers, vendors, and transporters.
- Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit the property.
- Inspect departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property.
- Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
- De-escalate difficult situations to maintain positive partnerships.
- Input vehicle information (VIN, miles, owner ID, options, repair orders) using a handheld device.
- Verify VIN numbers match the shipper’s Bill of Lading.
- Monitor and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaks, or unsecured doors.
- Account for and identify all keys, codes, and safety/security information.
- Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers; report breakdowns.
- Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment.
- Promote teamwork and set a positive example in attitude and performance.
- Maintain open communication with auction team members and leaders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the designated manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in a customer service environment.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and handle conflict positively.
- Proficiency in data entry using handheld devices or computers.
- Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license meeting company requirements.
- Able to safely drive various vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Requires standing for extended periods and regular, predictable attendance.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English (reasonable accommodations available).
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (2nd Shift). Open availability is highly preferred; schedule is subject to change based on business needs.
Pay
$15/hour.

Physical Demands
This role involves Light to Medium Physical Work, including:
- Constant: standing, watching, touching, listening, walking, talking.

- Potential: running, jumping, or rapid movement in emergencies.
Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision comparable to clerical, administrative, or machine operator roles. The position is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including temperature changes, weather, ambient noise, fumes, odors, and dust.
