About the Role
Provides general security services to the campus and assists campus police officers with routine patrols and other security measures.
Responsibilities
- Patrols campus by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle.
- Identifies and reports suspected crimes, accidents, or activities of a questionable/suspicious nature.
- Reports accidents involving persons or property, including probable cause, pursuing appropriate action, and informing proper authorities.
- Provides security for special events.
- Writes citations for parking violations.
- Provides direction and/or instruction to faculty, staff, and students in unusual or emergency situations.
- Participates in campus training for emergencies and for law enforcement officers.
- Monitors classrooms, offices, and buildings for safety and/or maintenance concerns.
- Maintains and utilizes security equipment.
- Maintains department records and prepares reports.
- May testify in court or during legal proceedings as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior security or law enforcement experience.
Skills
- Ability to work in varying conditions, including indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a wide range of faculty, staff, and student populations.
- Demonstrated self-restraint in challenging and/or difficult situations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Ability to occasionally travel throughout the service area as needed.
Pay
$31,239.00 to $37,479.00 annually, depending on experience.
Schedule
37.5 hours per week. Shifts and campus assignments vary and are based on current need.
