About the role

As an Unarmed Security Officer supporting a government services location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and provide exceptional customer service and communication. You will respond to security-related concerns, document observations, and support a welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and agency partners while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government-operated shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site personnel and emergency services as directed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior areas, entrances, exits, common spaces, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, assisting with access control and maintaining awareness of individuals entering and leaving the location.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and shift documentation, and communicate relevant observations to supervisors and site representatives.

Requirements

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
