Job Summary

The Security Center Coordinator (Night Shift) role involves maintaining the Security Operations Center, providing emergency and non-emergency security system monitoring, event dispatch, and emergency notification services.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads assigned staff.
  • Sets achievable goals and defined milestones.
  • Coordinates operations of unified physical and personnel security platforms.
  • Develops, implements, and refines security policies and procedures.
  • Communicates new processes with team members and ensures compliance.
  • Ensures enhanced situational awareness, unified command and control, and centralized operations of County physical security systems.
  • Oversees training activities to achieve the highest levels of team operational readiness and effectiveness.
  • Ensures security concerns, violations, breaches, questionable activities, and emergencies are reported both verbally and in writing.
  • Reports team activities to upper management in an effective, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Provides continuous improvement of operational controls and mitigates threats to County staff, facilities, and operations.
  • Operates security computer systems regularly.
  • Operates a radio system in accordance with FCC rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates, and controls multiple communications and simultaneous tasks on demand.
  • Develops and updates checklists, protocols, and phone listings to effectively manage incidents and makes applicable notifications.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree in security, public safety, or directly related field and five (5) years of related experience in security, business, or emergency and non-emergency notification services/dispatch; OR, any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Prior criminal background check for CJIS clearance.
  • Pass background investigation, including fingerprint clearance.
  • Prior military, law enforcement, security, fire protection, or public safety dispatcher experience preferred.
  • Experience with access control, alarm monitoring, and CCTV.
  • Knowledge of software based security systems, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Extensive technical acumen of computer software programs to include word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and a variety of software packages.
  • Security regulations and procedures.
  • Security access control, CCTV and alarm systems, email, intranet systems, and complex communication device systems.
  • Working knowledge of the physical County geography layout.
  • Basic telephone courtesy.
  • Business letter writing, grammar and punctuation, and report preparation.
  • Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability to effectively operate and coordinate security tools and processes.

  • React swiftly and remain calm under stress and make quick and calm decisions in emergency situations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of outside agencies, other County employees and officials, and the general public.
  • Exercise discretion and diplomacy in difficult and sensitive situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
  • Subject to constant sitting, reaching, talking, and exercise of fine dexterity.
  • Occasional standing, walking, climbing, kneeling/crouching, bending/squatting, and gripping/grasping.
  • Subject to job related stress and client/customer communications within the confines of the Security Operations Center, which operates 24-hours/7-days a week.
