About the role

The Safety Coordinator supports the administration and maintenance of the company’s health, safety, and environmental programs. This role assists with safety compliance, training coordination, inspections, investigations, and documentation while supporting safe work practices across all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Safety Manager with administering plant-wide safety programs, initiatives, and training
  • Conduct facility inspections and become familiar with fabrication, welding, machining, maintenance, and yard operations to help identify hazards and verify compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Aid with incident and near-miss investigations, including documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up
  • Maintain safety records, OSHA logs, training documentation, permits, and compliance records
  • Cook up safety training programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, forklift/crane safety, hot work, and chemical handling
  • Cover safety committee meetings, audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Track safety metrics and maintain related documentation for leadership review
  • Manage PPE inventory and support new hire safety onboarding
  • Promote and reinforce a positive, proactive safety culture through communication, visibility, and consistent follow-through

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety standards, and workplace safety principles
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and documentation skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments
  • Ability to identify hazards and support corrective action efforts
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and direction
  • Comfortable working in fabrication shops, weld bays, machining centers, and outdoor yard environments
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain electronic safety documentation

Qualifications

  • Education: Combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience: 1–3 years of industrial, construction, manufacturing, or safety-related experience preferred
  • Experience: Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or related industrial environments preferred
  • Training: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred
  • Training: First Aid/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Experience: Supporting safety training, inspections, or compliance documentation preferred
