Lead the future of Headache Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a premier academic medical center entering an exciting phase of growth and innovation in Headache Medicine. This role offers the opportunity to shape the clinical, academic, and research direction of a growing program within a Tier 1 academic medical center and integrated health system.

About the role

The Section Chief of Headache Medicine will provide strategic leadership for the section’s clinical operations, research initiatives, and educational mission. This role includes building upon a strong foundation while defining the future of headache care, scholarship, and training at Dartmouth Health. The Section Chief will lead a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers delivering state-of-the-art, patient-centered care.

The section includes a UCNS-accredited Headache Medicine fellowship program, offering a platform to train and mentor the next generation of headache specialists while advancing innovative clinical and research programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for clinical operations, research initiatives, and educational mission
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Mentor and train fellows in the UCNS-accredited Headache Medicine fellowship program
  • Collaborate with the Practice Manager and Nurse Manager to guide the section’s direction and performance
  • Ensure alignment with the Department of Neurology, Dartmouth Health, and the Geisel School of Medicine
  • Foster a culture of shared purpose, mutual respect, and psychological safety
  • Serve as a role model for expert, compassionate, and high-value clinical care
  • Excellence in teaching learners at all levels
  • Promote respectful, inclusive collaboration with interprofessional colleagues

Requirements

  • UCNS certification in Headache Medicine
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in New Hampshire and Vermont
  • Board certification in Neurology, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine by the ABPN, ABIM, or AOA
  • Qualify for the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in academic leadership, program development, and faculty mentorship
  • Commitment to inclusive leadership and team-based care
