Secretary II Radiology - Per Diem - Day

The Secretary II Radiology reports to Unit Management and is responsible for maintaining written records and reports that comprise the patient's medical record for each hospital admission or visit. This role processes physician orders, maintains chart forms for nursing personnel, files reports from ancillary departments, and may schedule appointments, cases, and add-ons. The position also involves entering charges for services and maintaining open communication between nursing staff, physicians, inter-departmental personnel, and patients.
Responsibilities
- Consistently adhere to and understand HMH and unit-specific policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and ergonomic environment; report malfunctioning equipment and order service as necessary.
- Perform clerical duties with little or no supervision, displaying resourcefulness in completing daily tasks and special projects, such as:
- Sorting and distributing mail.
- Requesting internal services (e.g., media services, print shop, meeting rooms).
- Cooperate with reassignments in the interest of patient care, adapting work schedules to meet unit needs.
- Enter orders for tests in ancillary departments (e.g., Lab, X-Ray, EKG, Dietary) as noted on the patient's chart.
- Direct internal and external customers to their proper destinations with courtesy and efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain patient charts upon admission, transfer, discharge, preoperative, and postoperative stages; file materials as requested.
- Perform all guest/patient record activities and charting transcriptions accurately and with minimal supervision.
- Transcribe physician orders in a timely manner for nursing staff use and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Maintain accurate guest/patient census by updating information in the computer system, accepting transfers and admissions, and communicating with the staffing office.
- Order and maintain supplies to ensure adequate availability for staff and patients.
- Provide timely and urgent telephone coverage, prioritizing tasks to avoid delays in patient care.
- Enter all guest/patient charge information accurately into the system to ensure proper statistical reporting.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Pay
The minimum starting rate of pay for this role is $20.64 per hour. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding. Some positions may also be eligible for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
