About the role

A Second Press Operator assists the printing machine operators. You will operate an industrial press machine, inspect products compared to the provided layouts and proofs, and prepare the machine to process a job as directed by the Lead Press Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and stage materials per the job requirements and as instructed by the Press Operator, assisting ICS as needed
  • Adjust and load the feeder, ensuring there are no contaminates visible in the loads
  • Apply ink to the press and assist with the install of plates and blankets
  • Assist with setting up the coating unit as required
  • Adjust each unit for fit as needed and assist Lead Pressman with color
  • Work with the Lead Pressman to ensure proper quality of finished work
  • Ensure all inks, chemicals and rags are stocked and ready at the press
  • Perform wash-ups on ink and coating units as needed
  • Clear the press area after each run and return materials to their proper location
  • Assist with all maintenance and lubrication of the press
  • Ensure use of all proper PPE for the task and chemicals as required
  • Maintain a clean press and surrounding area, emptying trash and recycle bins as needed
  • Organize and maintain the ink room, ensuring all inks are in the proper location by PMS number
  • Follow the Lead Pressman’s direction for any additional tasks while running
  • Ensure incoming shift is set up for success and communicate any required information or concerns

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferably in printing or graphics
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • All jobs require the ability to lift, move, push or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Good vision with the ability to distinguish color

Pay

Starting Pay: $27.50
